Our Philosophy
We want our students to:
be challenged and stretched to achieve their mathematical potential, including gaining the highest possible grades in public examinations. be supported and encouraged if they find the subject difficult. develop an understanding of, and a 'feel' for, number. appreciate the beauty and structure of mathematics. think logically and flexibly. communicate clearly and concisely their methods and strategies, orally and on paper. be willing and able to explore new areas of mathematics independently. learn a wide range of mathematical techniques and be able to apply them when solving problems. be able to use their developing mathematical skills in other areas of the curriculum. understand that mathematics can be used to model 'real-life' situations. be equipped for the 'real-life' mathematics they will encounter outside school, including the ability to interpret statistical data sensibly.
